Since when did the question of "what is safe to drink?" become a matter for the general public to decide upon? Shouldn't things like this be decided by water treatment specialists? Also, as long as the water is properly treated and is safe to drink, what's the problem? What does it matter where it came from?

i agree. i didn't like how people were protesting against "drinking sewerage". i think some people just want to protest against something, anything to feel like they are sticking it to the man or whatever. i think we need realistic water solutions. i wonder if the people who made the decision about this have imported themselves a little supply of canadian water all to themselves. i'm really scared of the water running out.
i don't know whether recycling water is a referendum type issue. i'm inclined to agree with both of you though. the issue has become too emotive when it should be a matter of science. listening to jjj's hack this afternoon i think one called (from toowoomba) summed it up well when he said the way people look at water recycling is similar to the way some people see it as an unfertilised chicken's foetus and some people see it as an egg.
